Andy Farrell has seen how The British & Irish Lions has can play with fluency and tempo – and now he wants more of it.

The tourists scored eight tries for the second game in a row to beat Queensland Reds in Brisbane, in their second match of the Qatar Airways British & Irish Lions Tour to Australia 2025.

Tommy Freeman, Andrew Porter and Duhan van der Merwe all crossed in an entertaining first 40, before Maro Itoje, Jac Morgan, Freeman again, Huw Jones and Garry Ringrose completed a 52-12 win.

The Lions ran for more than 500 metres with ball-in-hand and made nine line breaks at Suncorp Stadium, and players are noticeably gelling by the day.

The Head Coach was quick to point out there are plenty of areas to improve on but, after a slow start, was encouraged by how they performed.

“It was a bit of everything, I do not think it was flowing, it was a little bit stop-start,” he said.

“But when we were flowing, we played some really good stuff.

“We got over a bit of a slow start, the Reds came out of the blocks pretty aggressive and dominated that first 10, 15 minutes. That was good for us. We settled down well and played some good stuff.

“When the game was won we got a little bit stop-start, the continuity of our game was not quite as we wanted it to be.

“We defended pretty well, our collision work was pretty good, hence why we kept them out in the second half.”

Queensland Reds provided a stiff test in an entertaining first half but the Lions finished strongly to take a 21-12 half-time lead, with Van der Merwe powering over inside the final five minutes.

Just as they did against Western Force, the Lions then cut loose after the break.

There were plenty of notable performances, including the half-back partnership between Jamison Gibson-Park and Finn Russell, as well as captain Maro Itoje and flanker Jac Morgan.

However, there was one concern late in the game as Elliot Daly was forced off with an arm injury he sustained while making a tackle.

The full-back started in place of an ill Hugo Keenan and Farrell said they are waiting on results.

“Elliot [Daly] is pretty sore and we will get him an x-ray on his forearm so hopefully he is OK,” he said.

“Of course you have thoughts [on selection] but you have to be open-minded.

“All the lads have put their hands up really well.

“We will enjoy this, which you should do on a Tour like this. It is a three-day turnaround and that is Lions Tours for you.”
