Maro Itoje captained the Lions to victory in Australia in his third Tour and joined the likes of Taulupe Faletau, Jeremy Guscott, Paul O'Connell and Owen Farrell in completing the set of travelling to Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
He has now amassed nine caps for the touring side after starting all three Tests against the Wallabies, leading from the front in the Lions' first series win since 2013.
“People have bought in and we’ve built bonds. It’s what makes being a Lion so special: playing with these talented players and gaining their respect," he said on Tour.
“There is a rarity to Lions rugby, it's over so fast. You get one shot and no one can be guaranteed a place on the next Tour. If we don’t take this chance, we may never get another one. You want to be a winning Lion; you want to be part of that esteemed group."
Itoje started two Tests and came off the bench during the first game in the drawn series in New Zealand in 2017 and featured from the off in all three Tests during the 2-1 defeat to South Africa four years later.
The 30-year-old has already had a distinguished career on the international stage, winning the 2016 Grand Slam with his country – one of three Six Nations titles - as well as reaching the 2019 Rugby World Cup final and being a three-time nominee for World Rugby Player of the Year.
Domestically, Itoje is a Saracens icon, spending his whole career at the North London-based outfit since his debut in 2013, winning five Premiership crowns and three European Champions Cups in that time.
