Owen Farrell made history in Australia this summer as he became the first player in the professional era to win two Test series for The British & Irish Lions.

The former England captain was called into his fourth Lions Tour after Saracens teammate Elliot Daly was ruled out with injury and went onto feature in the second and third Tests as the Lions won the Qatar Airways Lions Men’s Series 2-1.

In doing so, he has added a second Test series victory as a Lion to his collection, having also been part of the squad that saw off the Wallabies back in 2013.

And Farrell paid tribute to the teammates who have helped welcome him into the group since his arrival.

He said: “The main thing that I can say is that since I've been out here, I've loved it.

"The group has been unbelievable. The feeling that these boys created long before I came in helped me slot in easily. It felt like I'd been here all along. Credit to what they have been doing and obviously what we've achieved off the back of it.

“The group has helped, coming into this environment and being around people that want the best for each other. The atmosphere that has been created, we've obviously done pretty well along the way.”

While the Lions were beaten 22-12 in the third Test in Sydney, they had already clinched the series victory with Hugo Keenan’s late try last week at the MCG.

For some, this game in Sydney will be a final playing appearance for the Lions, but the strength of the bond within the group will endure.

And there are already plans in place for the squad to reunite in 12 years to reflect on what they have achieved in 2025.

Farrell added: “Tadhg Furlong is driving it, he's at the front of the bus every day, he's leading us on, he's determined to get us back together in 12 years. I think we've got to put money in the pot every month and see what we come up with.

“You don't really have time to sit back and think until now. It's been a great tour and today was disappointing, the game didn't go our way and we didn't play the best rugby that we have all tour which we wanted to.

"But you can't take away from everything we have done over however past we've been here.”
